Special Programs Para educator
The special programs para educator provides direct support to students with significant needs in one or more developmental areas. The individual must maintain professionalism at all times, especially when working with escalated individuals. The individual must adhere to strict levels of confidentiality and implement Individualized Education Plans with fidelity.
Performance responsibilities include engaging students in classroom activities, administering tests, assisting students in both special education and general education settings, assisting with classroom setup, integrating technology, and supporting students with adaptive equipment. The para educator also assists with basic needs, documents health concerns, attends meetings, communicates with staff and parents, implements behavioral plans, collects data, manages classroom routines, and adheres to de-escalation procedures.
Protective clothing and equipment are worn as needed, and all instances of injury are documented. The para educator engages students in communication systems, maintains instructional materials, supports students in various school environments, provides instruction, and assists with individual assignments and IEP goals. Dependability, promptness, and regular attendance are essential. Confidentiality is maintained to comply with legal requirements and to promote a professional working environment.
Other duties may include assisting and instructing students on job sites and driving student interns to job sites.
Physical and emotional ability and dexterity are required to perform the job in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment.
