Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support a busy accounting team in California. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who can manage a large volume of payable transactions accurately and stay organized in a deadline-driven environment.

The right candidate will be comfortable working independently, applying detailed coding structures, and maintaining accuracy across daily invoice activity.

Responsibilities:

- Process a high volume of vendor invoices with accuracy, ensuring timely entry into the accounting system.

- Review and assign invoices to the appropriate general ledger accounts and cost centers based on established coding guidelines.

- Reconcile invoice details against purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation to confirm proper matching.

- Prepare and support check runs and other payment activities in accordance with internal schedules and controls.

- Maintain organized accounts payable records and resolve discrepancies by coordinating with internal teams and vendors as needed.

- Manage daily transaction flow efficiently while meeting deadlines in a fast-moving accounting environment.

- Work with accounting leadership and external partners to support accounts payable operations with minimal day-to-day supervision.

- Utilize Quick Books or a comparable ERP platform to enter, track, and manage accounts payable transactions. Requirements - Hands-on experience in accounts payable with a strong background in invoice processing and data entry.

- Ability to code invoices accurately within a detailed chart of accounts that includes multiple general ledger codes and cost centers.

- Experience supporting check runs and matching invoices to related documentation.

- Proven ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced setting with competing priorities.

- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial transaction handling.

- Self-directed work style with the ability to manage responsibilities independently.

- Experience with Quick Books is preferred; familiarity with larger ERP systems is also welcomed.
