Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join a fast-moving team in California. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who can take ownership of a high-volume AP workload, manage invoice handling accurately, and stay organized under daily deadlines.

The right candidate will be comfortable working independently, navigating a layered chart of accounts, and supporting timely payment processing in a dynamic accounting environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process a large volume of vendor invoices with accuracy, ensuring entries are recorded promptly and completely.

- Review, code, and match invoices to the appropriate general ledger accounts, cost centers, and supporting documentation.

- Prepare and assist with check runs and other payment activities to help maintain on-time disbursements.

- Investigate discrepancies in invoices, pricing, or account coding and work with internal partners to resolve issues efficiently.

- Maintain organized accounts payable records and documentation to support audit readiness and reporting needs.

- Manage daily transaction activity while meeting tight deadlines in a high-paced accounting setting.

- Work independently with limited supervision while providing reliable support to the accounting function.

- Use Quick Books or comparable ERP systems to enter, track, and monitor accounts payable transactions. Requirements - Hands-on experience in accounts payable with a strong background in high-volume invoice processing.

- Proven ability to code invoices accurately within a detailed chart of accounts that includes multiple GL codes and cost centers.

- Experience supporting payment processing, including check runs and related AP activities.

- Strong attention to detail and a consistent focus on accuracy in transactional work.

- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.

- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of assigned responsibilities with minimal oversight.

- Proficiency with Quick Books is preferred; experience with larger ERP platforms will also be considered.
