About the Position

Responsibilities

Analyze and edit content, and coordinate catalog production cycle in collaboration with area administrators, program directors, faculty, staff, and the CSU Chancellor’s Office.

  • Using specialized training in Acalog, Digital Architecture catalog management software, coordinate the revision process for the production of the University Catalog, a legally binding document.
  • Enter, edit, proofread, and maintain general and curricular information regarding academic courses and programs in the catalog.
  • In collaboration with CSU Chancellor’s Office, communicate and revise mandatory catalog copy for inclusion in catalog publication.
  • Using technical training, edit and maintain the design layout of the University Catalog within Acalog, including organization and arrangement of images, custom pages, and media files.

Review, analyze, and interpret curricular and program proposals using specialized skills and knowledge to identify and assess impact on content areas within the institution.

  • Investigate and analyze curricular changes requested by faculty, staff, and administrators; perform verification of course units/hours, classifications and components, prerequisite and co-requisite enforceable attributes, and GE and online/hybrid designations.
  • Investigate and analyze program change requests by departments; perform unit analysis and adherence to system regulations, and structural editing related to core and concentration organization for Acalog.
  • Using specialized training in People Soft SA and Curriculog, Digital Architecture curriculum management software, assess and make determinations of course activation, modification, and de-activation.
  • Maintain and analyze GE and online/hybrid approvals for accuracy and adherence to campus and system regulations; communicate compliance requests to appropriate departments.
  • Assist in maintenance of CSU Chancellor’s Office degrees database, based on approved program/catalog revisions.
  • Assist in maintenance of the People Soft SA course inventory.
  • Attend Committee on Instruction and Curriculum (CIC) meetings as appropriate.

Edit content for academic programs website and other administrative duties as assigned.

  • In adherence to University policy, and under the direction of the Lead Curriculum Services Analyst, update and maintain the web-based faculty Curricular Procedures Manual to comply with curricular and catalog procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to faculty and staff regarding curriculum and catalog processes.
  • Respond to requests for information regarding curricular programs and catalog data by University constituents and the CSU Chancellor’s Office for inclusion in campus and system promotional flyers, videos, brochures, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting academic programs, organizational units, and/or administrative entities.
  • Proficient in word processing and manipulating complex spreadsheets.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally interact and communicate with a diverse community.
  • Must be able to work effectively and efficiently without immediate and constant supervision.
  • Working knowledge of general practices and skills in applicable academic affairs infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience with web publishing software and/or graphic layout and design; ability to trouble‑shoot and solve problems in these environments.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating (orally and in writing) procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions, and ability to effectively write and present reports.
  • Experience with People Soft
  • Experience in problem solving with respect to catalog and curriculum issues.
  • Advanced organization skills/ability to effectively handle detailed tasks and prioritize and coordinate activities.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems and refer more complex problems to appropriate staff.
  • Ability to respond to routine inquiries and explain standard policies and procedures to others.
