Assistant Professor – Criminal Justice

About the Position

Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at California State University, East Bay. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses across the breadth of criminal justice, with a preference for expertise in criminal law, courts, and victimology.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in areas including criminal justice ethics, theories of crime, research methods, criminal law and the courts, victimology, restorative justice, and related topics.
  • Provide student advising and mentorship.
  • Participate in departmental administrative duties and committee work at the department, university, and campus levels.
  • Engage in scholarly research, contribute to academic publications, and present at professional conferences.
  • Represent the department at university events and participate in campus‑wide service.
Qualifications
  • Earned or ABD doctorate in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field, completed by the appointment date.
  • Demonstrated skills in teaching, mentoring, and academic scholarship.
  • Record of scholarly activity, including publications and conference presentations.
  • Experience and willingness to contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.
Compensation

Assistant Professor salary: $86,628–$92,844 per annum, subject to budget authorization.

Employment Conditions

Full‑time, California State University requires legal work authorization in the U.S. Background check and compliance with immigration, certification, and other employment eligibility procedures are mandatory.

Conditional employment offers may be rescinded if background check results are disqualifying.
