Part‑Time Lecturer Pool Position

POSITION AVAILABLE:
One or more temporary, part‑time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026, and/or Spring Semester 2027.

Department Overview

The department offers courses at both the undergraduate (BSAA and BSBA) level and the graduate (MSA and MBA) level for accounting and finance. The faculty is diverse, vibrant, and accomplished. Instructors enhance and update course content and design new courses by conducting research and engaging in professional development activities.

Duties of the Position
  • Accounting: Part‑time employment to teach introductory and/or advanced courses in accounting. Candidates should be proficient in at least one area of accounting including financial, managerial, business law, accounting information systems, accounting analytics, auditing, or taxation. Teaching assignments may include courses at Hayward campus, Concord Center, or online.
  • Finance: Part‑time employment to teach one or more introductory and/or advanced courses in finance, with specialties in personal finance, financial management, corporate finance, investment analysis, derivatives markets, risk management in financial institutions, international business finance, new venture financing, entrepreneurial finance, financial planning, or real‑estate finance. Teaching assignments may include courses at Hayward campus, Concord Center, or online.
Rank and Salary

Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.

Salary ranges for Lecturer – Academic Year Classification:

  • Range 2: $5,507 – $6,677
  • Range 3: $6,221 – $13,224
  • Range 4: $6,825 – $14,523
  • Range 5: $8,593 – $15,211

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

Date of Appointment

Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026;
Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027.

Qualifications
  • Minimum degree requirement:
    Master’s degree (or equivalent) in accounting or finance, or juris doctorate in law. Preferred:
    Ph.D. in accounting or finance from an AACSB‑accredited institution.
  • Professional experience of significant duration and level of responsibility, consistent with teaching responsibilities.
  • Or, with a research‑based Ph.D. in accounting or finance, must have a current research record in the teaching field. ABDs must have completed exams in the last three years.
