The Role
The Associate Teacher assists the Teacher, Master Teacher, or Center Director and takes responsibility for the general supervision, development, and education of children.
Responsibilities- Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing the daily program.
- Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment and needed materials and supplies.
- Perform primary caregiving responsibilities.
- Follow the Desired Results Process.
- Maintain the environment in a clean, safe condition.
- Manage regular parent communication, including parent conferences and chats with families.
- Supervise Teacher Aides, Substitute Teachers, and Volunteers as requested.
- Assume responsibilities in the absence of the Teacher, Master Teacher, or Center Director.
- Maintain general health, safety, and well-being of all children in the center.
- Prepare written reports as directed.
- Attend meetings as requested.
- Participate in activities that support own professional growth.
- Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and employees.
- Work as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.
- Greet children, parents, staff, and guests as needed.
- Assist other centers when requested.
- All other duties as assigned by the Master Teacher or Center Director.
- Unexpired Associate Teacher Permit from the Department of Education required
- One year prior experience working with young children preferred
- Three or six Infant/Toddler units to be an Infant/Toddler Associate Teacher required
- Immunization records that comply with Senate Bill 792 (immunity for measles, pertussis, and influenza)
- CPR/First Aid Training Certification required
- 16 hours of health and safety training, including 1 hour of nutrition training
- Must be a mandated abuse reporter
$33.62 USD per hour
Additional Requirements- Must pass a health screening and TB test
- Must pass background fingerprint clearance
- Must be 18 years or older
- The ability to lift up to 30 lbs may be needed during some job duties
