FACULTY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position POSITION AVAILABLE:
One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026 and/or Spring Semester 2027.
THE DEPARTMENT:The Department of Public Health at Cal State East Bay is home to a diverse faculty and student body, with 14tenure-track faculty members and over 400 students. The Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree prepares graduates for entry-level careers with social impact, encompassing community-engaged health,environmental health, epidemiology, health education, healthcommunication, and health program planning and evaluation. The Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences is designed toprepare students to enter directly into clinical careers or pursuepost-graduate professional programs.
DUTIESOF THE POSITION:
The Department of Public Healthperiodically employs a limited number of part-time faculty to teach undergraduate courses within the department . It is recruiting inall areas, but has a particular need for instructors in:health/medical humanities, health disparities/health equity,bioethics, health law, health economics, health regulation, healthcare payment systems, and health data & information management.
Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus,Concord Center, and/or Online. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California.
RANK AND SALARY:Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment issubject to budgetary authorization.
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
- Lecturer AY ( Range 2 ) - $5,507.00- $6,677.00
- Lecturer AY ( Range 3 ) - $6,221.00- $13,224.00
- Lecturer AY ( Range 4 ) - $6,825.00- $14,523.00
- Lecturer AY ( Range 5 ) - $8,593.00- $15,211.00
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum ofthe appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
DATE OF APPOINTMENT:Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026;
Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027.
A doctoral-level degree, e.g., PhD, DrPH,MD, JD, or proof of candidacy for a doctorate is required;applicants with a Master’s Degree with accompanying certification and/or work experience will be considered. Candidates with experience teaching within a population perspective through a lensof social determinants are desired. The Department prefersapplicants with teaching experience at the college/university level.
