Lecture Pool for Department of Art and Design (AY 26-27

Part-Time Lecturer, Art & Design Department

California State University, East Bay is seeking one or more temporary, part‑time lecturers to teach a variety of studio, design, and art history courses during the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.

• B.A./B.F.A. in Art: teach web design, interaction design, animation, photography, ceramics, printmaking, painting/drawing, sculpture, introductory and advanced studio courses, or computer arts/graphic design.
• B.A. in Art (Art History & Visual Studies Concentration): teach lower‑division general survey courses, upper‑division topical survey courses, or writing‑intensive seminar courses for B.A. and B.F.A. students.
• M.A. in Interaction Design & Interactive Arts: teach interactive media development using code, physical computing, and 3D printing; concepts of multimedia and interaction design; coursework in the application of interaction and learning theories to multimedia design and artistic practice.
• All courses require one office hour per course per week.
• Teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online, but all faculty members must perform duties within the state of California.

• Master’s degree in an area of specialization relevant to the courses taught, with some college teaching experience.
• Evidence of scholarship, creative work, or teaching via peer-review of teaching evaluations; syllabi; course assignments; and samples of student work may be required.

• For teaching B.A. in Art (Art History & Visual Studies Concentration) courses:
  Ph.D. in Art History or related field (completed or dissertation forthcoming), or M.A. in Art History or related field with significant teaching experience in Art and/or Design History.
• For teaching writing‑intensive seminar courses: experience with teaching writing skills is required.

• Experience in teaching reading, writing, and Canvas LMS for Art History & Visual Studies survey courses.
• Research specialization in non‑Western art, contemporary art, or design for relevant courses.
