Part‑Time Lecturer Pool Position
One or more temporary, part‑time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026 and/or Spring Semester 2027.
DepartmentThe Department of Kinesiology approaches kinesiology from life‑sciences, cognitive‑behavioral sciences, and humanities perspectives with a strong emphasis on social justice and inclusion. We offer Bachelor’s and Master’s in Science degrees and have a Physical Education Single Subject waiver option. Our vibrant department currently serves over 400 majors and is recognized campus‑wide for its student‑centered teaching, community service engagement, and scholarly activity.
The program also boasts a highly diverse student body and takes a cross‑disciplinary approach to the field of kinesiology, requiring a broad core for all students. The Kinesiology Laboratory is a teaching/research laboratory space including equipment for exercise physiology, biomechanics, exercise testing and prescription, and motor learning/sport psychology laboratories.
The Department of Kinesiology periodically employs a limited number of temporary, part‑time faculty to teach courses within the department (lecture, laboratory, and physical activity classes). Teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California.

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
Dates of Appointment- Fall Semester: 08/17/26 – 12/18/26
- Spring Semester: 01/19/27 – 05/21/27
A Master’s degree in a kinesiology‑related field is required to teach lecture‑based lower‑division courses and physical activity courses. Prior university experience teaching physical activity or a relevant coaching or industry qualification may be considered for physical activity classes. A Doctoral degree in a kinesiology‑related field is preferred to teach upper‑division major and graduate lecture and laboratory courses.
