Part‑Time University Fieldwork Coach Position

Department of Educational Leadership, California State University, East Bay. This temporary, part‑time faculty member will coach preliminary and clear administrative credential candidates for California K‑12 administrators.

Responsibilities
  • Co‑develop the course syllabus.
  • Meet regularly with candidates.
  • Use effective questioning and coaching strategies to develop self‑assessment and self‑reflection skills.
  • Provide timely, specific feedback on student work.
  • Support candidates in meeting the performance expectations and standards for California administrators.
  • Guide candidates through the CalAPA Leadership Cycles.
  • Respond to student requests and inquiries.
  • Maintain records of student assignments.
  • Attend all mandatory program meetings, professional development activities, and leadership institute sessions.

Lecturer evaluation includes meeting the above responsibilities, receiving student evaluations, and maintaining currency in the field. Evidence of currency may include professional activities, professional learning, instructional materials, or the incorporation of technology.

This position may include evening and weekend online or in‑person meetings at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online.

Salary

Salary depends on educational preparation and experience and follows the Lecturer‑Academic Year classification:

  • Lecturer AY (Range
    2): $5,507 – $6,677
  • Lecturer AY (Range
    3): $6,221 – $13,224
  • Lecturer AY (Range
    4): $6,825 – $14,523
  • Lecturer AY (Range
    5): $8,593 – $15,211

The anticipated hiring range is typically at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

Appointment

Positions are available as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open; appointments are filled as required.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum:
    Master’s degree and relevant professional experience.
  • Preferred:
    Doctoral degree.
  • Knowledge of current K‑12 educational standards and California credentialing policies.
  • Experience in adult learning facilitation, coaching methodologies, conflict resolution, equity‑minded leadership practices, and evidence‑based practices for leading diverse PK‑12 organizations.
  • Commitment to continuous self‑assessment and reflection.
  • Ability to provide timely, specific feedback and support candidates through the CalAPA Leadership Cycles.
Employment Conditions
