PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $5,054.00 per month to $6,116.00 per month.

About the Position

The Graduate School of Education (GSE) comprises three departments. The Office of the Associate Dean is responsible for the supervising personnel, budget, and office functions of the Credential Student Service Center (CSSC). The CSSC provides services to all programs leading to a credential issued by the State of California and is the direct link to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

The CSSC provides support to CSUEB departments with credential programs and serves the general public regarding information on certification policies and procedures. The office advises students about credential requirements; maintains accurate data on enrollments and student progress; certifies readiness for field experience; and processes all materials related to the application for a credential.

The Credential Analyst position is to maintain continuous oversight of candidate files; interpret laws and regulations for candidates, faculty, staff, and the general public; provide accurate advice to candidates related to completion of credential programs; facilitate presentations to prospective students and candidates finishing the program; provide candidates and team leaders with quarterly updates of candidate progress; and issue documents to potential employers verifying program completion.

Additionally, this position is responsible for conducting the final review of candidates’ records to determine credential eligibility and for formally recommending qualified candidates to the Commission for credential issuance.

Credential Evaluation

  • Maintain continuous oversight of candidate files, including transcripts and other documents required by each credential program.
  • Accurately interpret and apply state, university and program requirements for each credential program to assess documented candidate qualifications.
  • Accurately inform candidates when documents are incomplete, inaccurate, or missing.
  • Process applications for admission.
  • Process credential applications and update records.

Advisement

  • Interpret laws and regulations to advise candidates regarding coursework necessary to meet California credentialing requirements.
  • Conduct workshops for candidates who have completed the program.
  • Advise out-of-state and out-of-country trained candidates on procedures to obtain initial California credentials.
  • Assist faculty members, other staff, and administrators in interpreting state requirements on all certifications.
