The RoleThis is an on‑site, full‑time role located in Hayward, CA. This role will lead system functional and integration testing for all Lithos products, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and reliability standards. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include planning and executing testing, identifying underlying issues and design solutions, and building and automating test infrastructure to continually increase our capabilities.
Responsibilities- Lead functional and integration testing for Lithos battery systems.
- Create infrastructure and develop labs to provide broad internal test capabilities. Partner with outside labs to fill the gaps and handle excess test demand.
- Identify design risks and validation gaps, create test plans, and execute testing in close collaboration with design teams.
- Champion a scientific approach - theory of operation, observations, data, sources of error or uncertainty etc. Ensure that test outcomes enrich our understanding of our own product.
- Create an ideal environment and culture for early risk mitigation, iterative design feedback, and proving our products perform as intended.
- Lead test team in developing methodologies and best practices.
- B.S. or M.S. Engineering or Physics and 8+ years relevant work experience
- Experience managing small teams.
- Experience leading validation of safety-critical embedded / electronic systems.
- Demonstrated effectiveness planning and leading a range of test needs across engineering disciplines - functional, safety, durability, verification, etc.
- Strong understanding of BMS functions and battery system use cases.
- Very effective communicator, excellent documentation and reporting skills.
- Experience validating for automotive or heavy equipment environments.
- Proficient with CAD (Solidworks), scripting / test automation, and creating integrated test stands.
- Experience specifying and building test infrastructure.
- Experience working with CANbus.
- Experience developing automated production testers.
$140-220k, depending on level and experience
