Job OverviewKleinfelder's Northern California & Pacific area is expanding its Information & Spatial Solutions Team (IS2) and seeking a Senior GIS Analyst / Project Manager. This role will sit anywhere in the U.S. with preference for candidates who have experience working on California projects and a willingness to align with a Northern California office, working hybrid or remote.
Responsibilities- Apply GIS technical expertise to multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
- Work with project stakeholders to define business requirements and translate them into actionable work.
- Lead data development and cartographic design initiatives.
- Compose detailed technical documentation and provide training.
- Apply a detail‑oriented approach to quality assurance and control of all work products.
- Derive project schedules, anticipate work efforts and costs, and convey technical or labor resource needs to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Build an understanding of business processes across environmental, construction, transportation, stormwater management, and utility infrastructure.
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Data or Computer Science, Environmental Science, or a related field, including courses in GIS or equivalent professional experience.
- Master’s degree preferred, but not required.
- 6–10 years of experience fulfilling the job expectations in a business environment, with preference for previous consulting experience.
- Experience overseeing the design, development, and delivery of geospatial solutions, including data and map development, field reconnaissance, analytical models and reporting, and interactive web‑based geospatial applications.
- Advanced knowledge of geospatial/cartographic principles and practices; leading GIS assignments.
- Expert command of Esri ArcGIS Pro product suite, including desktop, geoprocessing, mobile and web‑based components.
- Experience analyzing existing business processes, systems, and data to solve problems and identify opportunities for efficiency and capability improvements.
- Ability to work independently or within a team to complete project assignments on time and in alignment with defined specifications.
- Manage feature/data/product requests, enhancements, and bug fixes in alignment with client priorities, coordinating activity with project teams from preliminary design through testing and delivery.
- Knowledge to support design and development of spatial and non‑spatial enterprise databases.
- Understand how to identify data or map quality issues and prescribe remediation strategies, including programmatic automations.
- Compose project methodologies, scope documents, application requirements, design specifications, and quality/test plans.
- Develop and deliver training and/or resources to a variety of stakeholders with diverse skill levels.
- Maintain leading‑edge knowledge of relevant technologies and offer use cases for exploration.

- Experience writing or supporting competitive contract proposals.
- Experience with oral presentations in a professional setting on industry topics.
- Advanced programming experience including SQL, Python/Arc Py, JavaScript/Arcade.
- Knowledge or experience working with alternative/open‑source geospatial toolsets (QGIS, PostGIS, etc.).
