Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering – Full‑time, Tenure‑track
California State University, East Bay (CSUEB) invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in the School of Engineering’s Civil Engineering program. The position begins in the Fall Semester of 2027 and is open until filled.
Duties of the Position- Teach courses in Civil Engineering, including engineering mechanics, structures, environmental and sustainability, water resources, construction engineering and management, and the Common Engineering Core.
- Develop and revise curriculum and course materials.
- Conduct independent research, publish papers, and seek external funding.
- Collaborate with local industry partners and participate in outreach activities.
- Advising undergraduate and graduate students.
- Serve on departmental and university committees, and support accreditation and program outreach efforts.
- Promote inclusive pedagogy and support the success of a diverse student population.
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related field by August 17, 2027.
- Teaching and mentoring experience, preferably in a university setting.
- Record of scholarly activity and a plan for continued research productivity.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE‑Civil) license or demonstrated potential to obtain one is highly desirable.
- Experience or interest in interdisciplinary or emerging fields in Civil Engineering or Engineering Education is highly desirable.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and research.
- Strong communication skills and collegiality.
Assistant Professor. Salary range: $94,356 – $101,124, dependent on experience and qualifications. Position is tenure‑track.
