Data Center Project Manager, US-West CPI, Critical Projects Implementation

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. The Critical Projects Implementation (CPI) team manages construction activity within operational data center spaces, focusing on critical infrastructure improvement projects to optimize utilization of space, power, and cooling.

The Data Center Project Manager will serve as a technical resource within Amazon data centers, overseeing projects across electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural disciplines. Responsibilities include project oversight, review of all disciplines, identification of improvement opportunities, and execution of projects to align with company strategy and goals. The role requires independent contribution and collaboration with multi‑disciplinary teams, and covers projects that may include electrical, mechanical, fire detection, and building automation system improvements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute data center improvement projects, ensuring consistency with company strategy.
• Review and manage all disciplines (electrical, mechanical, controls, architectural).
• Identify improvement opportunities and act on data from other teams and organizations.
• Prioritize activities to support data center capacity availability and safety, focusing on the most impactful actions.
• Work on projects locally and globally, interacting with various teams responsible for data center functions.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of construction or project management experience.
  • 5+ years managing projects in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure in an operational space.
  • 5+ years of on‑site construction trades experience (mechanical, electrical, general).
  • Vendor management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA.
