This is a full-time on-site role for a Research and Development Engineer. The role is located in Hayward.
The engineer will participate in all facets of medical device engineering, supporting a full range of activities such as: bench testing new product development, sustaining current product lines, verification and validation, and process improvement activities.
The engineer will work closely with a cross-functional team to support existing product and new product development. Products developed are done so in accordance with the Quality Management System and company objectives and timelines.
Job Duties:- Support senior members of the engineering team in benchtesting new product development
- Design verification test methods, test fixtures, and execute verification test methods.
- Compile test data, perform statistical analysis, and document results in reports.
- Contribute to the design of new products, including developing CAD models, drawings, and specifications.
- Build prototypes and solve problems.
- Interact with physicians and nurses at clinical sites to support clinical studies and/or product evaluations.
Work Experience:
- Be familiar with medical device development life cycles and manufacturing processes and technologies.
- 3D Modeling experience along with 2D dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools. Experience with Solid Works and/or Fusion 360 is a plus.
- Experience in designing and testing prototypes.
- Electromechanical and programming experience are valued.
Experience with statistical techniques. - Willingness to travel to support product lines at Contract Manufacturers overseas.
Education:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering field.
- Ability to focus on and achieve scheduled benchmarks.
- Strong team-work and communication skills.
- A drive to get the job done in the face of obstacles and time constraints, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
