Director I, Fiscal Advisor
This position is located within the District Business & Advisory Services Department and reports directly to the Director, District Advisory Services. The Director I, Fiscal Advisor is responsible for AB1200 COE – mandated oversight, ensuring day-to-day compliance, providing technical assistance to school districts and other educational agencies, and supporting fiscal oversight.
The job of Director I, Fiscal Advisor in the District Business & Advisory Services Department is done for the purpose of providing targeted financial and accounting guidance and assistance to school districts' business managers and other educational agencies on a variety of matters related to accounting, budgeting, forecasting, general ledger management and sound business operations as well as compliance with various statutory and reporting requirements.
This job reports to the Assigned Administrator.

Typical duties include analyzing, reviewing, and recommending the approval or certification of financial reports for the purpose of documenting activities and issues, filing reports, meeting compliance requirements, and/or providing supporting materials for requested actions. The role also involves communicating with internal and external personnel for the purpose of recommending actions, implementing procedures and/or maintaining services and programs. Data from a variety of sources is compiled for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with organization policies and procedures, and/or monitoring program components.
Internal audits and analysis of cash flows, fiscal trends, economic conditions and legislative updates are conducted to ensure program operations are within budget and in accordance with fiscal practices. The role facilitates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Minimum qualifications include five (5) years of fiscal operations experience including budgeting, auditing, and accounting, with increasing levels of responsibility. Chief Financial Officer/ Business Officer, Accounting Manager/Controller in school district or educational institution preferred.
Education:
Degree from an accredited college or university in a job-related area or certificate in Accounting required. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. Any combination of education, training and job-related experience equivalent to the above qualifications is acceptable.
