Position: EVS Aide - Environmental Services 90

Job Summary

Full‑Time (40hrs per week) PM Shift. APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE: $26.80 - $32.96. Under general supervision, cleans all areas as assigned by performing the duties listed below, to keep the environment aseptically clean, orderly, and safe.

Job Description / Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Customer Service Standards:
    Is courteous and displays a positive attitude while communicating with others; maintains confidentiality regarding information pertaining to patients and employees; handles difficult situations in a discreet and professional manner; promotes good public relations with patients, staff, and visitors; customer satisfaction surveys and patient interviews reflect positive customer service.
  • Properly disposes of soiled linens using standard precautions, re‑lines the hamper, removes trash and re‑lines containers, disposes of medical waste following the medical waste management plan, delivers linens with all strings removed, cleans trash cans in soiled utility rooms and outside entrances, disposes of confidential papers, keeps trash compactor area clean, completes hard floor care and carpet care, cleans baseboards, corners, and edges, completes area assignment sheets, assists other team members after floor care, cleans equipment, secures gated areas.
  • Patient Area
    :
    Sweeps and mops floors; cleans, disinfects sinks, mirrors, and water fountains; replenishes and deodorizes toilet tissue, paper towels, soap; performs isolation cleaning; performs transfer/discharge cleaning; polishes furniture, doors, chrome, stainless steel; moves furniture; uses safety and security practices; makes productive use of time, equipment, and supplies; maintains equipment; mixes, uses, and disposes of chemicals; reports items in need of repair;

    spot‑cleans walls; cleans patient refrigerators and ice machines.
  • OR
    :
    At 1500 hours, checks each OR suite for cleanliness, correct furniture placement, LPH solution availability; checks supplies of mopheads, rags, resupplies; takes specimens to lab; checks OR warmer; mops all hallways, lounges, scrub sink area, workroom, decent area, and Cysto storage; cleans sinks, hopper, counters; terminates at least one surgery suite each evening, moving and cleaning equipment; cleans vents; removes trash and linen receptacles, ensuring proper disposal;

    restocks supplies; assists with positioning and moving of patients.
  • Trash and Linen Area
    :
    Replaces all trash receptacles that are more than full or contaminated; empties contents into large trash collection bags; cleans receptacles with germicidal solution; transfers trash to designated containers; ensures trash is not placed in corridors; transports trash from soiled hold rooms to designated disposal areas.
  • Offices
    :
    Cleans medicine cabinet mirrors, soap dispenser, sink; damp wipes chrome fixtures; cleans toilets; refills soap and paper dispensers; empties and cleans trash receptacles; cleans glass doors and windows; cleans food service areas, sinks, ice machines, microwave ovens, refrigerators; cleans utility rooms.
  • Other Duties
    :
    Uses caution signs when mopping; follows safety procedures; cleans equipment, carts, buckets; returns vacuum cleaners in operating condition; labels spray bottles; does not obstruct traffic or exits; cleans janitor's closet.
  • Performs other job‑related duties as assigned by the Manager, Environmental Services.

Required Qualification
  • License/

    Certifications:

    None
  • Education:

    A high‑school diploma or equivalent preferred. Coursework in hospital housekeeping or institutional environmental management preferred.
  • Experience:

    Four years of environmental service experience in an acute care environment preferred.
  • Skills:

    Ability to communicate and understand oral and written instructions in English; skilled with personal protective equipment, housekeeping supplies, and equipment; familiar with OSHA and JACHO standards; familiar with technical process procedures and financial management tools; problem‑solving, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills; effective time management; basic computer skills.
  • Physical Hazards:
    Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, hazardous materials, and waste; exposure to moving mechanical parts and wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration; occasional outdoor work; moderate noise level.
