Overview
Job Summary (Full-Time, 40 hrs/week, NOC Shift) – The role involves cleaning all areas as assigned to keep the environment aseptically clean, orderly, and safe under general supervision. The approximate pay range is $26.80 - $32.96.
Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality cleaning and sanitation in accordance with customer service standards; maintain confidentiality and professionalism with patients, employees, visitors, and other stakeholders.
- Properly dispose of soiled linens, medical waste, and confidential papers; relay and organize waste and recycling per policy; remove trash and re-line containers using standard precautions.
- Assist with linen delivery, equipment cleaning, and proper storage; ensure area cleanliness and organization (trash compactor area, floors, baseboards, corners, edges).
- Complete floor care (hard floors and carpets) and document results; assist teammates to ensure area is clean before leaving.
- Maintain area assignment sheets and assist with area-specific duties as assigned.
- Clean and replenish supplies in patient areas (sinks, dispensers, toilets, paper products, soaps); perform isolation and transfer/discharge cleaning as assigned.
- Polish furniture and fixtures; move movable furniture as needed; observe safety and security practices; manage time and resources efficiently.
- Clean and maintain OR-related areas: verify cleanliness, furniture placement, supplies, and cleanliness checks; mop hallways and rooms; inspect and restock as needed; ensure surgery suites are thoroughly cleaned at end of shift.
- Trash and Linen Areas: empty and dispose of trash per guidelines; ensure proper waste segregation and disposal; avoid placing trash in corridors; use germicidal solutions as required.
- Offices and other areas: clean mirrors, dispensers, sinks; wipe chrome; empty and reline trash; clean glass doors/windows; clean food service areas and utility rooms.
- Use caution signs when mopping; follow safety procedures for equipment operation; clean and return equipment in working condition; label spray bottles; keep work areas accessible and safe.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Environmental Services.

Certifications:
None
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; coursework in hospital housekeeping or institutional environmental management preferred.
Experience: Four years of environmental service experience in an acute care environment preferred.
Skills: Ability to communicate in English (oral and written); familiarity with PPE, housekeeping supplies and equipment; knowledge of OSHA and JACHO standards; problem-solving, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills; effective time management; basic computer skills.
Physical Hazards: Exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, hazardous materials, waste; near moving mechanical parts; wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles; potential electrical risks; variable weather conditions; moderate noise level.
