A Brief Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief Supply Chain Officer, the Senior Director is responsible for leading functions across Supply Chain operations, including the Resiliency Program Office and supply reliability, the Supply Chain support center, mail services, and warehousing. This position is responsible for the evaluation, growth, and development of a warehousing program that services departments across all the entities that Stanford Supply Chain services, the digitization and/or optimization of the mail program, and the further optimization and enhancement of the call center and resiliency program.

This position is a senior-level role in that it provides strategies and operationalizes the growth, optimization, and development of such programs and functions. This Senior Director will provide innovative leadership and direction to the design, implementation, performance monitoring, and management of service operations, quality improvement and compliance, and the partnership with the senior leaders of the Supply Chain and customers.

This is a multi-faceted managerial job class with substantial responsibility for the exercise of independent judgment in interviewing, selecting, and training subordinates, assigning work, developing work procedures, establishing work schedules, monitoring and evaluating the work performed by subordinates, and disciplining subordinates. Effective management requires systems thinking: the "big picture" context of the issue being addressed, interconnectedness with other issues not readily apparent, consideration of potential ramifications of actions and decisions, how potential effects should reasonably alter the plan of action, and what players need to be included or informed.

The Senior Director is responsible for strong partnerships and coordination of business processes across all departments and functions of the Supply Chain. Key departments outside of the Supply Chain include Finance, Nursing, School of Medicine, etc. Direct reports include managers or senior managers.
