The Lead Technician I must lead each phase of the mitigation and/or environmental project from initial stage to completion. This position reports directly to a Supervisor and could be co‑managed by the Project Manager and/or Branch Manager. Interfacing with other departments may be required.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain regular communications with key stakeholders including Branch Manager, Operations Manager, Project Manager, Supervisor, and Project Coordinator to discuss project schedules, scope changes, materials, and personnel resources.
- Perform necessary tasks to expedite job completion, including pickup and order of materials, moving client contents, and performing high‑quality repairs while adhering to code regulations and industry standards.
- Lead a small group of technicians, providing supervision and direction based on defined job parameters.
- Maintain company‑assigned vehicle and restock supplies as necessary.
- Complete and turn in crew sheets and job notes at the end of each day.
- Serve as role model in following and enforcing company policy and safety procedures while performing services.
- Assist in development of technicians through mentoring, coaching, equipping, and encouraging skill growth.
- Assist in job‑site safety briefings, providing training within scope of knowledge.
- Complete timecards in a timely and accurate manner; ensure crew members do the same.
- Turn in completed work orders including measurements, moisture readings, and detailed paperwork for Project Manager billing.
- Maintain trade skills through regular training as provided by company.
- Continue building knowledge of company services, operations, and standard practices to support professional growth.
- Minimum 1‑year experience in lead technician role in construction field, restoration/mitigation field, or experience gained through successfully meeting job requirements of Tech III.
- Valid Class C driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Must be insurable.
- Understanding of safety guidelines, applies to daily tasks, and holds crew accountable.
- Awareness of company handbook/policies, SOPs, adherence to guidelines; communicates desired outcomes and shares with crew through SOP application.
- Supports development of technicians (crew) through demonstration and encouraging opportunities for growth.
- Good knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and miscellaneous equipment to complete the job.
- Continuous growth mindset, open to feedback, and applies what they learn and teaches others.
- Good grasp of English language (read, write, verbal).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Able to pass respirator physical and obtain respiratory fit exam.
- Can interpret and apply basic instructions (Material Data Sheets).
- Industry certifications preferred; ability to pass medical exams if required for certification.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
- Required PPE may include gloves, masks, goggles, hard hats, and safety footwear; all employees must wear PPE as required for specific roles and job site conditions.
- Practice ergonomic principles to prevent musculoskeletal disorders; proper desk setup, adjustable chairs, and good posture while seated.
- Office safety protocols: maintain a secure work environment; proper use of office equipment; work spaces free from clutter.
- Safety training: complete all mandatory safety training sessions, including hazard communication, emergency response, and safe equipment handling.
- Reporting safety concerns: identify and immediately report unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, or injuries to supervisors without fear of retaliation.
