The Production Planning Assistant supports daily production planning and scheduling activities, ensuring accurate execution of production orders and alignment with established priorities. This is a hands‑on, detail‑oriented role focused on ERP data integrity, production coordination, and operational efficiency.
- Create, update, and maintain accurate production orders within ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics / Business Central).
- Generate production orders tied to released sales orders, ensuring alignment with planning rules and priorities.
- Close completed production orders for finished goods and components in accordance with established procedures.
- Produce and manage critical shop floor documentation, including travelers, drawings, and work orders.
- Support production scheduling activities by maintaining timelines and prioritizing work orders.
- Monitor material availability and proactively flag shortages or risks impacting production.
- Track and update production order status, including quantities, due dates, and completion milestones.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Production, Purchasing, and Inventory teams to ensure on‑time delivery.
- Maintain high standards of data accuracy for production documentation and ERP records.
- Support inventory accuracy through proper production order setup and lifecycle management.
- Assist with engineering change implementation, including drawing revisions and BOM updates.
- Utilize Excel and Power BI to support reporting, tracking, and operational performance visibility.
- Follow SOPs and best practices for planning, data control, and ERP usage.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and identify trends or issues
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (filters, formulas, data analysis)
- Experience with ERP systems (Dynamics 365, Business Central, or similar)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
- Advanced Excel and Power BI reporting capabilities
- Experience in manufacturing or production planning environments
- ~50% office / 50% manufacturing floor
- Mix of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day
- Standard 40‑hour work week, with occasional overtime to support production demands
