Position: Grants & Funder Relationship Manager (Bay Area)

The Grants & Funder Relationship Manager will play a pivotal role in identifying, applying for, and managing funding opportunities that align with our organization’s goals. This includes overseeing the grants lifecycle from identification and application through reporting and compliance, as well as building relationships with funders and potential funders. This person will work closely with the development team, program managers, and senior leadership to ensure financial support for key projects and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grant Identification and Proposal Writing:
    Research, identify, and evaluate potential grant opportunities from government agencies, private foundations, corporations, and other funding entities. Work with the contract grant writers to complete grants in a timely fashion.
  • Grant Administration:
    Manage all aspects of grant administration, including preparing and submitting progress reports, ensuring compliance with funder guidelines, and tracking the use of funds.
  • Relationship Management:
    Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential funders, ensuring positive communication and transparency about grant activities and financial reports.
  • Budgeting and Financial Oversight:
    Develop budgets for grant proposals and ensure that funds are spent according to the terms and conditions of the grants.
  • Grant Documentation and Record-Keeping:
    Maintain organized records of all grant applications, award letters, reports, and communications for internal tracking and audit purposes.
  • Strategy and Planning:
    Contribute to the organization’s overall fundraising strategy, ensuring that grants are aligned with programmatic goals and sustainability.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant management or fundraising within the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong knowledge of grant research tools, funder databases, and best practices for grant proposal writing.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to track and report on complex financials.
  • Familiarity with grant compliance regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially excel), Google Workspace, and a CRM.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Grant writing experience.
  • Relationships with SF Bay Area funders of youth services.
  • Experience with federal, state, and local government grant applications.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting and budgeting practices.
  • Experience with youth development.
