Job Summary
Per diem all shifts approximate pay range: $55.26 - $64.13. The Registered Nurse provides direct care in the skilled‑subacute unit. Communicates with physicians, nurse director, and co‑workers about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, diagnostic studies, and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
Responsibilities- Consistently uses two patient identifiers when drawing lab, administering medications, and performing procedures.
- Does not use unacceptable abbreviations in documentation; reads back all telephone orders.
- Consistently follows medication reconciliation policy.
- Ensures crash cart and defibrillation function are checked per protocol and after each code; replaces items and signs the checklist.
- Complies with infection control guidelines (OSHA blood borne pathogen standards, CDC Guidelines) and uses appropriate PPE (gloves, gowns, masks, goggles) and hand‑washing techniques.
- Provides a thorough, detailed shift‑change report to ensure continuity of care.
- Assists physicians with special tests and procedures; uses timeout for all bedside procedures.
- Avoids injury by applying body‑mechanics principles; maintains a safe environment, ensuring suction and oxygen are immediately available.
- Consistently performs pain assessment and reassessment after pain medications and at discharge or transfer.
- Documents medications given on the MAR and narcotic sheet/Pyxis.
- Recognizes signs of abuse and reports to Adult Protective Services.
- Initiates discharge and patient/family education planning with proper documentation in Medi‑Tech.
- Establishes priorities of patient care based on essential needs and available resources.
- Formulates, maintains and updates a goal‑directed plan of care, prioritized and based on patient outcomes.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications- Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California.
- BCLS upon hire and maintenance of current certification.
- Previous six months of experience in an acute‑care hospital or long‑term care.
