We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist, Protein Science, to join our R&D team in Hayward, California. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the discovery of next-generation therapeutics while working in a collaborative, fast-paced, and scientifically driven environment.
Responsibilities- Recombinant protein expressions in mammalian cell lines.
- Perform protein purification, characterization for quality, and document work in electronic lab notebook.
- Troubleshoot cloning, protein expression and purification workflows.
- Maintain the protein and plasmid inventories.
- Analyze experimental data critically, draw scientific conclusions, and effectively communicate findings to cross-functional project teams.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of experimental procedures, data, and analyses in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs).
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across global research sites.
- PhD in biochemistry, biophysics or other relevant fields, or MS/BS in biochemistry, biophysics or other relevant fields with more than 5 years’ research experience.
- Hands-on experience in protein purification techniques including affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion, hydrophobic interaction chromatography using AKTA Avant/Pure
- Proficiency with various analytical protein characterization techniques such as SEC-HPLC, HIC-HPLC and SDS-PAGE.
- Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accurate documentation practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, adaptable, and able to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, timeline-driven research environment.
- Willingness to tackle challenging technical problems.
- Experience in antibody discovery pipelines: expression, purification, screening, and analytical characterization. Experience in oncology and/or immunology drug discovery.
- Experience in protein engineering along with biophysical characterization methods for protein-protein interactions, such as surface-plasmon resonance (SPR) or bio-layer interferometry (BLI), will be considered a plus.
- Experience in structural biology is a plus but not required, including protein X-ray crystallography. Familiarity with software such as CCP4, Coot, and PyMOL.
- Experience with molecular cloning techniques, including Gibson Assembly, Golden Gate Assembly, PCR, and site-directed mutagenesis.
- Operating experience with various automation instruments e.g., autosamplers, automated liquid handling systems (EpMotion and Opentrons).
