Assistant Grocery Manager

Overview

As the Assistant Grocery Manager, you will help customers make healthy food choices and deliver excellent customer service while managing one of the busiest teams in our store. You will partner with the Grocery Manager to oversee multiple projects, implement strategies for sales, margin, and inventory goals, and support a fast‑paced, friendly environment.

• Assist the Grocery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit.
• Handle ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervise the Grocery team.
• Coordinate merchandising and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
• Lead a team that delivers high product quality, service, and customer experience.
• Participate in hiring, training, and development of the Grocery Team.
• Unload and sort store deliveries.
• Ensure execution of company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and confirm team compliance.
• Work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and support continuous improvement.

• At least 18 years old with 1‑3 years retail management experience. Familiarity with natural foods and alternative diets preferred.
• Dependable, flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays; able to walk up to 3 miles per 8 hours.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to give and receive direction.
• Friendly, positive attitude and excellent customer interaction skills.
• Proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff, with working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent organization and planning skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
• Physical requirements:
  
  able to lift up to 60 lbs., transfer boxes up to 50 lbs. over specified distances, and perform repetitive squatting/kneeling for extended periods.

The pay range for this position is $18.80 – $26.30 per hour, determined based on applicable experience and qualifications.
