ASSOCIATE INSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE - Hayward, CA Job Summary
We are seeking someone with a background in sales and mechanical aptitude. Experience with plumbing supplies, automotive parts, or construction tools is desired. Knowledge of Salesforce and strong customer service skills are essential. Aspirations for project management or business development are a plus. This full‑time, in‑office position is a starting role with potential growth in a 100% ESOP employee‑owned company.
Salary range: $27–$34 per hour, DOE.
Essential Functions- Provide excellent customer service and exhibit quality salesmanship.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the inventory and catalog for accurate order entry, status updates, and pricing.
- Accurately provide inventory information, order entry/status, changes in delivery schedules, and pricing & quotations to customers and outside sales.
- Discuss special pricing situations with sales engineers or supervisors.
- Attend to rush orders within 24 hours.
- Prepare, write‑up, enter, and process orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure pre‑lien information is received on contractor ordered material.
- Process returns.
- Assist with Requests for Service (RFS).
- Perform Competitive Quotation Memos (CQM) with assistance when required.
- Perform pump selections using Xylem’s ESPRep under supervision.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Detail‑oriented.
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in business or related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in sales or customer service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to persuade and influence others.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Results‑oriented with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools.
- Knowledge of the industry and product/service offerings is desirable – specifically hydronics equipment.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Strong phone presence and persuasive skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Results‑driven with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to adapt and respond to a fast‑paced, changing environment.
