Position Summary
Our client is seeking a hands-on Shipping Supervisor to lead daily shipping and logistics operations at their Hayward facility. This role is responsible for supervising the shipping team, ensuring accurate and on-time shipments, improving department performance, and maintaining a safe, efficient work environment.
The ideal candidate has experience managing shipping personnel, conducting performance reviews, coaching employees, handling progressive discipline, and tracking shipping KPIs. Bilingual English/Spanish is required to effectively communicate with the current team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and develop Shipping & Packaging Clerks and the company driver.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and manage progressive discipline.
- Schedule daily workloads and ensure on-time shipment performance.
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments using Fed Ex, UPS, and similar shipping systems.
- Monitor and improve shipping KPIs, including on-time delivery, shipping accuracy, productivity, and inventory accuracy.
- Plan delivery routes and support shipping, packaging, and receiving activities as needed.
- Maintain inventory of shipping supplies and ensure accurate shipping documentation.
- Promote a safe, organized, and continuous improvement-focused work environment.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of shipping, logistics, or distribution experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of direct supervisory experience leading a shipping or warehouse team.
- Experience conducting employee performance reviews, coaching, and progressive discipline.
- Experience managing shipping KPIs and departmental performance.
- Experience with Fed Ex Ship Manager, UPS World Ship, or similar shipping software.
- Forklift experience and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred
- Semiconductor or precision manufacturing experience.
- ERP or Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience.
- Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
