Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team at Perry Alternative School as a LBD Teacher. The ideal candidate will work with students with learning and behavior disorders, providing them with tailored instruction and support to help them succeed academically. The role requires a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and personal growth.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with learning and behavior disorders, ensuring alignment with state and federal regulations.
  • Create and deliver engaging lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and school staff.
  • Collaborate with special education staff, general education teachers, and support personnel to create a cohesive educational experience for students.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment by establishing clear expectations, promoting positive behavior, and implementing effective classroom management strategies.
  • Provide support and guidance to students in developing social skills and coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and attendance.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education and instructional strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
  • Contribute to the overall school community by participating in school events, meetings, and committees.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education (Learning and Behavior Disorders endorsement preferred).
  • Experience working with students with learning and behavior disorders in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and special education regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to adapt instructional methods and materials to meet diverse student needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance instruction and communication.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
