Summary
Perry Co Central High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our team and support students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment, providing academic, emotional, and social guidance to help students achieve their full potential. This full-time position requires strong communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for student development.
Responsibilities- Provide individual and group counseling to students to address academic, personal, social, and emotional issues.
- Assist students in developing academic plans and career pathways, including college and vocational guidance.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a supportive educational environment.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify student needs and track progress.
- Organize and implement programs and workshops on topics such as study skills, stress management, and conflict resolution.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation.
- Advocate for students’ needs and rights within the school and community.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school counseling and education.
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor.
- Previous experience in a school setting, preferably at the high school level.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and staff.
- Knowledge of college admissions processes, career exploration, and academic advising.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently manage caseloads.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community.
- Proficiency in using technology and counseling software for record-keeping and communication.
