Position: School Counselor (9-12 Guidance)

Summary

Perry Co Central High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our team and support students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment, providing academic, emotional, and social guidance to help students achieve their full potential. This full-time position requires strong communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for student development.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to address academic, personal, social, and emotional issues.
  • Assist students in developing academic plans and career pathways, including college and vocational guidance.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a supportive educational environment.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify student needs and track progress.
  • Organize and implement programs and workshops on topics such as study skills, stress management, and conflict resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation.
  • Advocate for students’ needs and rights within the school and community.
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school counseling and education.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.
  • Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor.
  • Previous experience in a school setting, preferably at the high school level.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and staff.
  • Knowledge of college admissions processes, career exploration, and academic advising.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently manage caseloads.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community.
  • Proficiency in using technology and counseling software for record-keeping and communication.
