SUMMARY

Perry Co Central High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate English teacher for grades 9-12 to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging curriculum, foster a love for literature and language, and support the development of critical thinking and communication skills. This full‑time position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of high school students and contribute to a positive learning environment.

• Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and meet the diverse needs of students.
• Teach various English language arts subjects, including literature, writing, grammar, and composition.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and fosters a love of reading and writing.
• Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and exams, providing constructive feedback to support growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and participate in school-wide initiatives.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay current with educational trends.
• Support students’ social and emotional well‑being through mentorship and guidance.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
• Attend faculty meetings, parent‑teacher conferences, and school events as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
• State certification or licensure to teach English at the high school level.
• Strong knowledge of English language arts curriculum and pedagogy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Experience with technology integration in the classroom is preferred.
• Previous teaching experience at the high school level is a plus.
