American Traveler seeks a CVOR Surgical Technologist with fresh heart experience for a hospital cardiovascular operating room position.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of current cardiovascular scrub tech experience required
- Fresh heart experience required
- AHA BLS certification required
- NCCT or AST tech certification required
- License required if applicable, active compact or state license in hand required at time of submission
- Valid driver's license matching permanent address required for consideration
- 2 professional references required, including 1 charge or higher and 1 supervisor reference completed within the last year
- Flu vaccine required, with medical and religious exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis
Responsibilities
- Hospital CVOR unit performing cardiovascular and vascular surgical procedures
- Day shift schedule with 8-hour shifts, working a 36/48 rotating pattern (one week 3x12, next week 4x12)
- On-call required approximately 2 days per week, every other weekend
- Floating required within scope of practice, including every other weekend
- Meditech charting system experience preferred
- Trauma Level I and II experience preferred, teaching hospital experience preferred
- Perform scrub duties for cardiovascular procedures including CABG, aortic aneurysm repair, angioplasty/stenting, EVAR, TAVR, and VAD cases
- Support vascular procedures such as carotid endarterectomy, femoral popliteal bypass, and AAA repair
- Maintain aseptic technique, sterilization, and infection control standards
- Participate in universal protocol and time-out procedures
- Handle specimens, equipment documentation, and instrument processing per facility protocol
- First-time travelers not specifically excluded but travel experience not required
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered, locals not accepted
- Up to 7 days of RTO considered if submitted upfront with no changes accepted
- Must work either a major or minor holiday during the assignment
- Returning travelers must take a minimum 6-month break after one year before being eligible to return
- Travel pairs accepted on a limited basis, but pairs will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
