American Traveler is hiring a Rehab RN with 1-2 years of current acute rehab or MS experience and an active KY or compact RN license for a 13-week inpatient assignment.

Requirements
  • Active KY or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification required
  • 1-2 years of current acute MS/rehab experience required
  • Experience with IV therapy, central line care (PICC lines), and administration of blood and blood products preferred
  • Experience with orthopedic care including assistive devices, mobilization techniques, and total joint replacement care
  • Experience with feeding tube care, NG tube management, and swallowing precautions preferred
  • Wound care and patient teaching experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Two professional references required, including one Charge or higher and one supervisor reference, both completed within the last year
  • Valid driver s license required with address matching permanent address
Responsibilities
  • Work in the Rehab unit of an acute inpatient rehab hospital setting
  • Patient ratios of 1:5-6
  • Day shift schedule rotating between 3x12 and 4x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:30)
  • Schedule totals 84 hours per two-week pay period (36/48 rotation)
  • Float required within scope of practice
  • Every other weekend required
  • Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated
  • Preferred use of Meditech charting system
  • Provide direct patient care within an acute inpatient rehabilitation setting focusing on neurological, orthopedic, and gastrointestinal patient needs
  • Perform stroke scale assessments and implement swallowing precautions and thickened liquid protocols as needed
  • Utilize lift/transfer devices and isolation precautions/PPE as part of daily patient care
  • Deliver wound care and patient education as part of routine responsibilities
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
  • Up to 7 days of RTO will be considered and must be submitted upfront with no changes accepted
  • Required to work either a major or minor holiday during every holiday period
  • Orientation is held on a bi-weekly basis
  • Travelers who have completed one year with this healthcare system must take a minimum 6-month break before returning
  • Traveler pairs are accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
