The Cardiometabolic Care Sales Team is at the forefront of US sales efforts for Novo Nordisk’s cardiometabolic product portfolio, including therapies for treating diabetes, obesity, and reducing major adverse cardiovascular events. The team aims to advance cardiometabolic disease management by bringing new therapies to market and improving patient outcomes. As a team member, you will connect therapies to new specialties, build cardiometabolic advocates, and apply learnings that impact local markets and the organization in a cross-collaborative way.

Assumes responsibility for achieving sales goals by implementing marketing and sales strategies to effectively sell and promote Novo Nordisk’s portfolio of products to healthcare professionals and other office staff.
RelationshipsExternally, the Cardiometabolic Care Sales Team maintains relationships with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, pharmacists, nurses, and other paramedical customers. Internally, the CMCS reports to the District Business Manager of the specific sales territory and collaborates with other field-based colleagues, especially the territory partner.
Essential Functions- Demonstrates competencies with territory-level impact.
- Understands local payer markets (Medicare, Commercial, Medicaid), benefit designs, coverage requirements, step therapy, copays, and deductibles and their impact on customer decisions.
- Identifies business opportunities by understanding territory customer groups and affiliations (IPs, Medical Groups, Health Systems, Local Clinics) and tailoring approaches.
- Analyzes bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status, as applicable.
- Assesses managed care impact on prescribing decisions and adjusts sales/promotion strategies.
- Develops relationships with specialists, hospital decision-makers, and others who influence purchasing decisions.
- Researches and tailors account plans based on stakeholder needs and accounts business practices.
- Uses market intelligence to develop and execute territory business plans.
- Plans to gain access and build relationships with prescribers, support staff, pharmacies, and clinics to drive business impact in collaboration around patient management and NNl-approved solutions.
- Shows professionalism and customer focus, listening and addressing customer and patient needs while keeping commitments.
- Collaborates across functions (e.g., Market Access, Specialty Sales) to share knowledge and opportunities.
- Implements Novo Nordisk Edge Selling Model with external customers and during company-sponsored meetings, including:
Strategic Planning, Customer Engagement, Adapting Approach, and Call to Action. - Uses analytical tools to evaluate territory opportunities and create plans to engage customers and gain commitment to use NNI products appropriately, leveraging payer opportunities and brand strategies to meet sales goals.
- Coordinates with internal stakeholders (e.g., Pod team, PDBM, RBD) to implement plans and define roles and responsibilities for accountability.
- Manages samples, company property, and discretionary budgets in line with policy and legal requirements to support territory goals.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of disease states and treatment options, including NNI and competitor products, and contributes to product and disease-state knowledge in meetings and trainings.
- Participates in sales and marketing meetings, training programs, conventions, and displays as appropriate.
Driver must maintain a valid driver’s license and be in good standing by not exceeding Novo Nordisk’s applicable motor vehicle record points threshold.
