District Guidance Counselor

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to serve as a District Guidance Counselor at our Central Office. This full-time position is responsible for providing comprehensive counseling services to students across the district. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and community resources to support students' academic, social, and emotional development. The District Guidance Counselor will play a vital role in fostering a positive school climate and ensuring that all students have access to the support they need to succeed.

• Develop and implement a district-wide guidance program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social needs of students.
• Provide individual and group counseling services to students, addressing issues such as academic performance, social skills, and mental health.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff to identify and support students in need of additional resources or interventions.
• Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' needs and develop appropriate action plans.
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions for students, parents, and staff on topics related to student wellness, resilience, and academic success.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and student progress.
• Serve as a liaison between the school district and community organizations, mental health agencies, and other resources to provide comprehensive support for students and families.
• Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school counseling and mental health support.
• Participate in district meetings, committees, and training to contribute to the overall improvement of student services.
• Support crisis intervention efforts and provide guidance during emergencies or critical incidents affecting students.

• Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
• Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a school counseling role or related field.
• Strong understanding of educational systems, student development, and mental health issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Knowledge of community resources and support services available for students and families.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for all students.
• Proficient in using technology and counseling software for record-keeping and communication.
