Job Summary:
The principal/supervisor of the Webster Early Childhood Center plays a critical leadership role in fostering an inclusive, supportive, and high-quality learning environment for children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Administration:
- Develop and implement the district's vision and mission, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and special education requirements.
- Develop and implement goals and priorities, focusing on continuous improvement and growth.
- Collect and analyze data on student outcomes, program effectiveness, and stakeholder satisfaction to inform decision-making.
- Stay current with trends and research in early childhood education and inclusive practices, integrating best practices into the center's operations.
- Ensure the implementation and continuous monitoring of a school wide behavior support system.
- Ensure the implementation of a developmentally appropriate, inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of all learners, including those with special needs.
- Support teachers in adapting instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Oversee the use of assessments to monitor student progress and inform instructional practices.
- Promote the integration of technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes.
- Ensure social-emotional learning elements are incorporated and implemented.
- Experience with Creative Curriculum, preferred.
- Recruit, hire, and retain qualified and diverse staff, including teachers, aides, and support personnel.
- Provide ongoing professional development opportunities focused on inclusive education practices and child development.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, offering constructive feedback and support for continuous improvement.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, encouraging teamwork and professional growth.
- Ensure that all staff members are trained and knowledgeable regarding district safety procedures and policies.
- Build strong relationships with families, offering resources and support to foster their involvement in the child's education.
- Organize and lead parent workshops, meetings, district enrollment nights, and other events to engage families in the center's activities.
- Collaborate with community organizations, agencies, and specialists to provide comprehensive services to children and families.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the center, creating a welcoming environment for all children and families.
- Ensure the provision of appropriate accommodations and support for children with disabilities or special needs.
- Promote an understanding and appreciation of cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic diversity among staff and students.
- Address any instances of bias, discrimination, or exclusion promptly and effectively.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, and/or Special Education
- State certification/licensure in Early Childhood Education or School Administration, required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in early childhood and/or elementary education, including at least 3 years in a leadership or administrative role.
- Demonstrated experience in managing inclusive programs and working with children with diverse needs.
- Knowledge of LARA licensing rules and regulations for childcare in the state of Michigan, preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building positive relationships with staff, families, and community partners.
- Deep understanding of child development and inclusive education practices
- Knowledge and experience with Creative Curriculum, early childhood special education, and Early On
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and supportive learning environment.
