Preschool Academy Bridges Teacher

Webster Early Childhood Education Center Hazel Park is seeking applicants for the position of Preschool Academy Bridges Teacher for the 25/26 school year. The school is served by a caring and professional staff providing instruction to approximately 150 of our youngest Hazel Park students. The Hazel Park community is proud and supportive of its schools, the staff and student population. The successful candidate for this position will be committed to reflective practice and continuous professional growth with a demonstrated ability to build a caring, dynamic learning environment, an understanding of child development and respect for diverse children and families.

Additional qualities expected of a successful candidate are honesty, enthusiasm, dependability, initiative and planning and a willingness to work interdependently with the early childhood team at Webster.

Specific qualifications: minimum of a bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field or child development required. State of Michigan teaching certificate with a ZA or ZS endorsement preferred. If degree in a related field, must have experience teaching preschool age children. Training in creative curriculum and early childhood assessment instruments preferred. Ability to be sensitive, accepting and responsive to culturally diverse children and parents;

communicate effectively with children, parents, staff and administrators. Demonstrated ability to provide supervision and facilitate teamwork in the program. Current certification in child CPR and basic first aid preferred. Experience working with preschool age children preferred. Applicants must be able to show proof of a satisfactory criminal background check as defined by state standards.

Responsibilities: establish and communicate clear classroom rules and expectations to promote a structured and supportive learning environment. Provide consistent, positive reinforcement to encourage and sustain appropriate student behaviors. Support students in developing independence in meeting their basic self-care and daily living needs in order to prepare them for kindergarten success ensure the availability of safe, developmentally appropriate materials and resources for learning and play activities.

Differentiate instructional methods and materials to align with students' interests, abilities, and learning styles. Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with students and families to foster strong home–school partnerships. Effectively manage daily classroom operations, including instruction, structured play, transitions, meals, and rest periods. Monitor and document student progress and communicate updates to parents and building administration as appropriate. Collaborate with ancillary and support staff to ensure students receive comprehensive services aligned with their needs.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment. Promote and support student progress toward developmental and academic milestones. Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan and implement engaging, standards-aligned lessons. Facilitate positive peer interactions to promote social development and appropriate integration skills. Provide active supervision of students at all times to ensure safety and well-being. Maintain an organized inventory system for classroom materials and supplies.

Plan and lead developmentally appropriate activities, including songs, games, and storytelling. Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation procedures and district guidelines.

Compensation: in accordance with the non-union salary scale reports to:
Webster early childhood administrator.
