Overview

The Hazleton Division of the H&K Group, Inc is looking for an experienced Construction Party Chief to join our survey department. At H&K our Party Chiefs are responsible for the setup and construction layout of a multitude of different projects including;
Heavy Highway, commercial, residential, structures, and water treatment facilities. Our Survey Team is not only responsible for the general layout of our projects but to work with project management to apply best site development practices to ensure Quality Control throughout the life of our projects. Our Survey department will provide you with the latest technology the Survey industry has to offer including;

3D Machine Control, Data acquisition via drone and scanners, Survey and modeling software, Robotic and GNSS hardware. The H&K survey department exclusively leverages Trimble equipment and software for daily operations.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
  • Responsible for surveying and construction layout needs at specific job locations
  • Manages daily schedule as established by superintendent
  • Communicates with project team
  • Obtain CAD file and hard copy of current revision of plan from project manager and subsequent revisions (Drawing revision logs to be maintained by project manager)
  • Chooses specific standardized means and methods to achieve survey and layout objectives
  • Create and maintain electronic data and documentation for all tasks
  • Electronically record and document work
  • Calculate all stakeout or working reference points
  • Verify existing site conditions (Topo)
  • Confirm pad grades and basin grades as constructed
  • Synchronizes and updates plan data with site rover
  • Meet contract as build requirements for work completed by H&K Group
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Supervise surveyors in accordance with H&K policies & applicable laws
    • Train employees
    • Plan, assign, and direct work
    • Performance review, rewards, and discipline
    • Address employee complaints and conflicts and resolve problems
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Two years of related experience and/or training
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered .
  • Proficient with Trimble survey equipment and software
  • Able to manage multiple projects from initial set up to final closeout as-builts under the guidance of department supervisor
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Driver's license and clean driving record
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills, especially with training & developing employees
  • Problem solving
  • Learning agility
  • Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Four years of related experience and/or training
  • Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
  • OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
