Position: Quality Engineer I
Purpose and role of job:

Responsible for the implementation, compliance, and maintenance of quality systems operations. Works closely with PFN customers to ensure product quality meets or exceeds expectations. Interfaces with PFN Business/Product Development, Operations, & Customer Service to achieve goals.

Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:

• Develop/revise procedures & work instructions related to Quality Management System
-QMS.

• Communicate and train individuals in QMS requirements and applications.

• Participate in and lead site quality audits.

• Develop/complete CAPAs consistent with achieving improvements to QMS and facility metrics.

• Understand quality testing methods and quality requirements ensuring effective integration into quality system.

• Act as primary QA contact in customer/supplier assessment activities and raw material qualifications.

• Authorized to release product in E-1

• Establish effective working relationships with PFN customers

Strong communication skills: written & oral

• Effective interpersonal skills

• Ensure PFN process capabilities align with customer quality expectations

• Proactively review QMS and product performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement

• Trend analysis, SPC tools, DOE, FMEA, etc,...

• Respond to customer quality concerns

Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills,

• Establish effective working relationships with other departments for using quality data for improvements, new product development, cost savings, or other quality initiatives.

• Promote and ensure the proper use of QMS and proper statistical methods throughout the facility

• Work collaboratively with cross functional departments to define customer needs and meet expectations

• Able to review, understand, and interpret relevant industry standards:
Quality Standards, Customer specifications, test methods, regulatory standards, etc..., advise and train PFN Team Members as necessary for compliance.

• Supervise the activities and review performance of any assigned staff.

• Perform laboratory tours and provide Quality system explanations to visitors.

• Assist or substitute for the QA Manager with other responsibilities, as requested.

Education and experience requirements:

• A four year technical degree is required, preferably a BS Degree in Engineering discipline and 2+ years in quality or manufacturing engineering, or BS in a scientific/technical field with 5+ years experience in quality or manufacturing engineering disciplines

• ASQ Certification or equivalent body of knowledge (CQA,CQT, CQE or Six Sigma Black Belt/Green Belt desirable)

Work Environment:

• Lean, fast paced work environment.

• Capable of prioritizing projects & activities through multi-tasking to sustain efforts and meet expectations

• Work cross-functionally to mutually achieve goals

• Ability to supplement hours as/if required to meet business needs.

• Demonstrated communication proficiency both verbal and written required

• Intermediate computer skills required

• Supportive of efforts outside immediate area of responsibility

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to walk throughout the facility for up to12 hours per day; spend time on manufacturing floor or in QC labs. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unaccompanied. Must be able to speak, hear, reach, touch, bend, and squat periodically.
