Cost Accounting Manager

Position Overview

The Cost Accounting Manager will lead cost accounting, margin analysis, and financial planning for a growing beverage manufacturer. This role is responsible for analyzing cost structures, identifying opportunities to improve profitability, and supporting strategic decision-making while maintaining product and service quality.

Reporting to the Controller and overseeing a Senior Accountant, this position plays a key leadership role within the accounting team. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in cost accounting with analytical rigor, cross-functional collaboration skills, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Own product and service costing, including evaluating and improving cost accounting policies and processes
• Lead month-end cost close and support audit activities
• Analyze direct, indirect, production, operational, and supply chain costs
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and KPI development
• Establish and monitor standard costing; perform variance analysis to drive margin improvement
• Identify and implement process improvements across accounting and operations
• Lead integration of operational subledger systems into ERP for real-time cost visibility
• Prepare margin analysis and cost reporting for senior leadership
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant financial regulations

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience. Winery experience is preferred. Food or beverage experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in business, economics, accounting, or related field
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting under GAAP
• ERP experience required;
  Net Suite or Oracle preferred
• System implementation experience strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large data sets
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail, integrity, and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
