Overview
The City of Healdsburg is pleased to announce the opening of a unique opportunity to help carry out the vision, goals, and strategies of the City’s Arts and Culture Master Plan as the City’s Arts and Culture Program Administrator.
Under general supervision of the City Manager’s Office and Community Services Department, the Arts and Culture Program Administrator (Part-Time) supports the implementation, administrative operations, and programmatic components of the City’s Arts and Culture program. This work includes facilitating the implementation of the Arts and Culture Master Plan, supporting the strategic direction of the Arts and Culture Commission, overseeing the City’s public art program, working with the City team and partners on arts and cultural events, seeking partnership and funding opportunities for the arts, and supporting the creative community.
This role is essential in providing administrative support for the City’s Arts and Culture Commission, including excellent communication with community partners, art applicants, and residents, monitoring art installations, drafting grant applications, and providing general administrative support.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Facilitates the development and oversees strategic direction of the Arts and Culture Master Plan with the Arts and Culture Commission.
- Coordinates with City and outside organizations in the development of new and existing arts program areas and projects consistent with the Arts and Culture Master Plan.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with commissions, artists, art organizations, businesses, and other groups.
- Promotes arts and cultural activities to broaden opportunities for residents, businesses, and visitors’ participation in the arts.
- Works with local businesses and artists to promote an inclusive creative economy.
- Identifies and implements ways the arts can reflect and celebrate diversity and inclusion within the community.
- Assists City departments and community organizations with integrating art and design into projects.
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates the activities on various projects or assignments.
- Prepares staff reports and attends monthly Arts and Culture Commission meetings to provide information and receive direction from commissioners on current goals and projects.
- Conducts research and analysis of arts-related policies and develops policies and programs to advance the goals for the Arts and Culture Master Plan, such as a percent for arts program and public art policy.
- Prepares grant applications or proposals.
- Responds to inquiries regarding art and culture programs and events and resolves problems and concerns of the public or organizations.
- Maintains a database of artists for art events, exhibits and installations.
- Prepares brochures and social media posts to advertise arts initiatives, special events and public art inventory.
- Assists with fundraising and grant efforts.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
