Nurse Educator
Description
Nurse Educator at Healdsburg Hospital in Healdsburg, CA. This position will work full time, 8‑hour day shifts.
The Nurse Educator is responsible for leading clinical education, competency validation, and regulatory readiness across acute care and subacute services. This role oversees onboarding, annual competencies, and ongoing staff development while ensuring compliance with California Department of Public Health and Department of Health Care Services requirements and highly regulated subacute standards. The Educator also serves as the Director of Staff Development for the subacute unit, supporting CNA training, orientation programs, outpatient clinics, and survey preparedness.
The Nurse Educator/Nursing Professional Development Practitioner is a professional nurse with advanced clinical, leadership, and staff development knowledge and skills. Supports the professional and clinical development of bedside nurses and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence in evidence‑based nursing care. Facilitates the educational process through assessment of learning needs; and the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs and activities, in collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams.
Facilitates all levels of competency validation, from orientation through advanced. Collaborates with leadership to ensure regulatory compliance with respect to clinical practice through education and competency validation. Participates in strategic planning to achieve outcomes. Leads groups working on projects related to staff development. Acts as a consultant to committees and teams and makes recommendations for improving the quality of patient care through the development and revision of policies, procedures, and programs.
Supports the integration of research into practice. Is a resource and mentor to staff.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related field
- California Registered Nurse License upon hire
- National Provider BLS – American Heart Association upon hire
- Nursing Professional Development Board Certification or Nursing Education within 2 years of hire
- 3 years of Acute Care experience
- 1 year of Staff Development activities
- Experience with simulation in healthcare
- Experience with interactive, case‑based online teaching/learning methods
- Experience with knowledge and skills‑based competency validation
- Experience with outcomes measurement to evaluate effectiveness of education
- Master's Degree in Nursing or related professional development field
- Additional certification in one specialty applicable to practice
- 3 years in area of specialization

Pay range: $68.96 – $107.05.
