• Must be a nationally certified Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Technician with three (3) years RECENT chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank, hematology, coagulation, microbiology and phlebotomy experience. • Must be a citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with regulations.) • The VA Togus Maine Healthcare System will establish and maintain a record keeping system that will record the hours worked by the contracted employee(s). • Shall meet or exceed all standards set by the Joint Commission or the VA policies and procedures. • Shall be responsible for ensuring Contractor employees providing work on the contract are fully trained and completely competent to perform the required work. Contractor shall furnish resumes and other information of available personnel as needed for background checks and Lab Manager/Lab Administrative Officer approval prior to appointment. • Shall uphold the same standard of conduct and performance as all other federal employees and services shall be performed in compliance with VA policies and procedures and under the regulation of the Medical Staff by-laws. All policies and regulations pertaining to protection of patient privacy (HIPPA) and the safeguarding of electronic patient information must be observed. Any breaches of policy may be punishable by law. • Shall provide documentation of a Two-Step Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) test performed within the past year and within ninety days of beginning at the VAMC. In case of a past positive PPD test, a negative chest radiographic report to rule out active tuberculosis shall be provided. The PPD test shall be repeated annually. • Shall furnish to the Contracting Officer with their proposal a Certificate of Insurance which shall contain an endorsement to the effect that cancellation of, or any material change in the policies which adversely affect the interests of the Government in such insurance shall not be effective unless a 30-day written notice of cancellation or change is furnished to the Contracting Officer. • All Contractor personnel are required to have a Security Background Check and a credentialing check. Contractor shall not have its provider report to work unless notified by Contracting Officer that background investigations and credentialing checks are completed. • Contracted employee will need intermediate computer experience to include using menus options to report results, navigate patient record, look up patient information and previous results, and other computer functions. Employee should know how to use the internet for online training as needed. The employee is NOT required to have experience in word processing programs, spreadsheet programs, or other such computer programs. |
