Aggregate Plant Mechanic

Position Overview
The Aggregate Plant Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing aggregate processing equipment and plant systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This position works closely with plant management and production personnel to minimize downtime and maximize plant productivity. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with crushing and screening equipment, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and industrial machinery, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
This is a night shift position, requiring the ability to work evening and overnight hours as business needs dictate.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on aggregate processing equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, pumps, motors, and related plant equipment.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and equipment modifications as needed.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and safety concerns, making recommendations for repairs and improvements.
- Replace bearings, belts, idlers, pulleys, rollers, gearboxes, motors, and other plant components.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and work orders.
- Partner with plant management to schedule repairs and minimize operational downtime.
- Perform lockout/tagout procedures and comply with all company safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Assist during plant shutdowns, outages, and emergency repairs.
- Operate company vehicles, forklifts, aerial lifts, and other equipment as required.
- Support production goals while maintaining quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Education/
Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Minimum 3 years of industrial, aggregates, mining, asphalt, concrete, or heavy equipment maintenance experience preferred. - Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Experience with conveyors, crushers, screens, feeders, pumps, and aggregate processing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, maintenance documents, and schematics.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Medical Card per DOT standard.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Preferred MSHA certification or ability to obtain certification.
- Experience working in aggregate, mining, quarry, or construction materials operations.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and industrial controls.
- Mobile equipment maintenance experience.
- CDL preferred but not required.
