Job Summary: Drives a school bus to transport students over specified routes according to schedule. Complies with all traffic regulations, ordinances, and the School Code of Conduct for Transportation.
Essential Duties- Drive a school bus safely and professionally.
- Perform and properly complete daily pre‑trip inspections.
- Comply with all traffic ordinances.
- Follow discipline policies set forth in the School Code of Conduct for Transportation.
- Participate in on‑site training.
- Show proficiency in handling, maneuvering, and managing students on a school bus.
- Maintain a clean school bus.
- Appropriately report maintenance repairs as needed.
- Complete and submit appropriate documentation such as student discipline reports, maintenance reports, pre‑trip forms, and student counts.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
- Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
- Pass State Skill Test and State Written Test.
- No points on driving record and pass a physical including a drug test.
- Hold a CDL Class B license with no air‑brake restriction and with P and S endorsements.
- Ability to work in a friendly manner with co‑workers and students.
- Ability to read and understand maps.
- Pass State Skill Test, State Written Test, Department of Transportation physical and MDE Basic Training Program.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Work occasionally in temperatures above 100 °F and below 32 °F and on slippery surfaces.
- Meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with the public and other workers.
- Have direct responsibility for the safety and well‑being of others.
- Work in a frequently loud and chaotic environment.
- With a CDL, submit to pre‑employment and random drug and alcohol tests.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
