Job Requirements- Safely deliver building materials to commercial and residential customers while providing professional, courteous customer service.
- Operate assigned commercial vehicles, including spider trucks, lift trucks, box vans, and pickup trucks, as well as forklifts, in compliance with all applicable laws and company policies.
- Maintain a valid CDL and comply with all DOT, CDL, safety, and company requirements.
- Safely load, unload, move, stack, and secure lumber and other building materials by hand or forklift while minimizing product damage.
- Assist with gathering materials and building customer orders and loads for delivery.
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns to management.
- Communicate with store management regarding route changes, special requests, equipment issues, and delivery needs.
- Maintain knowledge of assigned delivery areas, customer locations, and store contacts to ensure efficient and timely deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organized delivery vehicle and lumber yard, including removing debris and supporting general yard maintenance.
- Assist with loading and unloading customer vehicles and vendor delivery trucks when not making deliveries.
- Stock lumber and yard inventory, assist with cycle counts, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Maintain knowledge of lumber, building materials, product specifications, warning labels, and proper material-handling procedures.
- Use company computers and systems as needed to input or retrieve information.
- Safely navigate assigned routes and changing weather conditions while prioritizing timely and efficient deliveries.
- Participate in required safety seminars, annual driver safety training, and other required certifications.
- Follow all company policies, safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and Aubuchon’s Core Values.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational training or certifications are a plus.
- Valid CDL and in-state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required.
- Must meet company and insurance carrier driving standards and pass a required drug screen.
- Prior delivery, CDL, lumber yard, building materials, or forklift experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of local geography and ability to efficiently navigate assigned delivery areas.
- Forklift certification or experience preferred; ability to complete required training and certification.
- Strong customer service, verbal and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Trustworthy, dependable, team-focused, and able to work independently.
- Strong time management, organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, as business needs require.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment in adverse weather conditions.
- Must be able to frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and frequently bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of vehicles, stand, and walk.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and around dust and noise.
