About the Position

Oak Hill seeks a highly motivated and dynamic Certified Special Education Teacher. The position works 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 8 a.m.–4 p.m. The teacher plans, organizes, and facilitates all student instruction, supervises students and staff, and develops, implements, and monitors programs that enhance functional academic, vocational, social, and ADL skills to improve independence and quality of life.

Applicants must be currently in school matriculating toward a Special Education Master’s degree, or have experience in an educational environment or working with individuals with disabilities. Candidates should be ready to inspire and support staff to help students achieve educational goals.

Position available due to program expansion.

Responsibilities
  • Become familiar with student information; ensure that programs are developed to implement and meet student educational needs and provide consistency in program implementation.
  • According to each student PPT, develop Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), based on student formal and informal assessment, including medical, behavioral, and recreational activities.
  • Complete student assessments and ecological inventories to set goals in support of the interdisciplinary team process objectives.
  • Implement instructional content for learning (academic, ADL, behavior, and therapeutic programs developed by the Trans‑Disciplinary Team).
  • Coordinate and write student schedules outlining routines.
  • Write and submit quarterly progress reports and participate in quarterly meetings with parents.
  • Lead students to construct meaning and apply new learning through differentiated and evidence‑based learning strategies; assess student learning and provide feedback to students, parents, and support staff as needed.
  • Plan instructional content aligned with standards, building on student’s prior knowledge and providing an appropriate level of challenge for all students.
  • Complete thematic planning, master schedule, and scaffolding instruction.
  • Collaborate and attend trans‑disciplinary meetings; exchange information, evaluate and determine program modifications.
  • Lead, encourage, and inspire employees assigned to the classroom team; train and evaluate; complete supervisory monthly one‑to‑one meetings and annual performance evaluations.
