The Hebron Board of Education is seeking substitute registered nurses to work at Gilead Hill and Hebron Elementary Schools for the school year. The school nurse will perform routine technical nursing duties and assist with other related duties involved in providing care for Hebron Public Schools students and staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide direct professional nursing services to students and staff
- Administer medication with appropriate documentation
- Maintain accurate medical records to assure compliance with state mandates
- Perform mandated screening procedures
- Complete accident/incident reports for students/staff
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health related issues
- Compile daily attendance records for each student
- Perform other health or school related work as assigned
- Periodically teach health related lessons to students
- Provide health related trainings, as required, to staff
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with school health, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures
- Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices
- Good knowledge of data entry, record keeping, and the SNAP system
- Knowledge of accepted procedures for disposing of used supplies
- Ability to observe the general physical condition of patients to detect signs of abnormalities
- Ability to record observations completely, accurately, legibly, and concisely
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and over telephone
- Ability to exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment in working with people
- Ability to accept supervision
Education and Experience:
- Licensed to practice as a nurse in the state
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the physical ability to execute the full performance of duties for the position, including but not limited to: reaching, some lifting, standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and/or crawling
