Assistant Band Director - High School

Qualifications:

Holds a valid Kentucky certificate appropriate for the position or holds a valid emergency certificate for substitute teaching under the qualifications outlined in 16 KAR 2:120 Sec. 2 (7)(b); has clearly demonstrated a high level of musicianship in both the knowledge and performance areas; has demonstrated the potential and/or ability to stimulate student interest and participation in the band program; has demonstrated the potential and/or ability to assist in developing and implementing arch performances/shows for football games and marching contests;

has the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, parents, and the community.

Reports To:

Band Director/Principal

Job Goal:
To assist in providing each student with varied opportunities to learn about and enjoy music experiences as a performer and/or listener.

Performance Responsibilities:
Assist the high school band director in operating the instrumental music program; assist in providing individual and small group instruction; assist in coordinating band-parent organization activities; assist in maintaining standards of pupil behavior that will provide an orderly, productive environment during rehearsals and performances; maintain a professional awareness of current literature relating to assignment, including working knowledge of state and federal law, board policy, and administrative regulations;

have all students under supervision of certified personnel at all times at approved after school programs; perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor.
